Where does Cognetti stand on ICE?

Editor: As a concerned resident of NEPA, I am writing to demand that Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti make her position on ICE absolutely clear. With conflicting reports and rising anxiety regarding immigration enforcement in our area, the community deserves to know where its leadership stands on public safety and federal cooperation.

Mayor Cognetti has previously stated that Scranton is not a sanctuary city and that local police will comply with lawful warrants. However, in light of broader political debates, she must reaffirm her commitment to working alongside federal agents to ensure that dangerous criminal illegal aliens are removed from our communities.

Does Mayor Cognetti support policies that restrict local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities, or does she stand with the rule of law and the safety of our neighborhoods? The citizens of Scranton and the Eighth Congressional District deserve a transparent answer, not ambiguity, regarding whether city resources will be used to support ICE in removing violent offenders.

We need to know that the safety of our citizens takes priority over political ideologies.
