Judith ‘Judy’ Hlavaty
OBITUARY
Judith Judy Hlavaty, 79, of Scott Twp, died Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at Allied Hospice, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James J. Hlavaty, who passed away in May of last year.
Born in New Berlin. NY, Judy was the daughter of the late Ross Strickner and Betty Henderson, and attended Lackawanna Trail High School, which is where she met and married James.
Judy is survived by her sister, Betty Walker Cobb, and her brother-in-law, Les Cobb, many nieces and nephews, and an aunt and uncle.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Diana Lochen and twin brothers, Richard and Ronald Henderson.
Judy was thankful and very appreciative of her caregiver, Alicia Novak, and her many friends and neighbors that stopped to visit and give her encouragement, especially her dear friend, Stanley Sonny Stracham, who was always there for her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Judy at 10am on Saturday, March 14th, in Corpus Christi Church at St. John Vianney Parish, Scott Twp.
