BETHLEHEM, W.Va. — Bethlehem residents will soon see a sharp increase in their water bills as the village moves to raise water rates by 38% starting April 1.

The village purchases water directly from the Wheeling Water Department, which raised its rates in October.

Mayor Matthew Saseen said the increase is needed to keep the system running and up to date.

“We want to assure you that this adjustment is necessary to maintain the quality of service and infrastructure. The increased costs will help cover rising operational expenses and necessary improvements to the water system,” Saseen said
