SCRANTON — An urgent care clinic in South Side will close Friday.

Management informed Lake Scranton Urgent Care employees Wednesday of the closure, according to a woman who answered the phone at the clinic. Management told employees the center wasn’t making as much money as expected, said the woman, who identified herself only as an employee.

Attempts to reach clinic owner William Balchune were unsuccessful.

The clinic opened in 2016 in the Mountain Plaza shopping center on Moosic Street. It offered treatment of minor medical issues, such as the common cold, flu, allergic reactions and minor injuries, as well as vaccines, physicals, drug and alcohol screenings and COVID-19 testing.
