College students understand the challenges of finding an internship or securing the first job following graduation.
Students interested in a career in the field of communication got a chance to discuss job opportunities with three local professionals on Thursday.
Zach Flock, the executive director at the Erie Playhouse, Beth McDonough, head of consulting and insights at &Marketing, and Erie News Now’s John Lydic spoke about their careers. They shared about the different aspects of their jobs, as well as the evolving landscape of digital media and communication.
“Having to experience this career panel and be able to answer questions about something that I’m passionate about, but also uncertain about in the job aspect, was really helpful,” said junior public relations & advertising major Victoria Collins.
Each panelist also discussed the role artificial intelligence has played in their career fields. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about how to stand out as they prepare to apply for positions.
“Being here and being a part of the whole program, it’s allowed me to get a bigger understanding of like the paths I’m going to have to take, the roadmap, and just internships and things like that,” said freshman acting major Deshaun Morris.
