GLASSBORO, NJ – Elaina Corson scored five goals but #15 Scranton built up a two-goal lead in the final three minutes to edge #22 Rowan, 13-11, in a classic Top 25 women’s lacrosse battle.

Scranton (4-3) took an 11-9 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, but Corson netted her fifth of the game at 9:00 and then Alexis Lowry tied the game with a free-position shot at 5:56. Scranton’s Colleen Mullin netted one at 3:26 and teammate Allyson Flynn followed at 2:46 to give the Royals a 13-11 lead. Lowry tallied the Profs’ final goal at :07 to provide the final margin.

It marked Corson’s season-high in goals while Lowry, Yasmin Harris and Madison Rothwein had two goals apiece.

The game was tight throughout, with the teams tied in the first quarter, 4-4. Harris scored twice for the Profs with Rothwein and Corson knotting the score in the final minute.
Scranton held the Profs to just one goal in the second, by Corson, as it took a 7-5 lead at halftime.

Rowan outscored the Royals in the third, 4-3, as the Profs got goals by Corson (2), Rothwein and Sofia Lijo to enter the fourth quarter trailing, 10-9.

Scranton held a narrow 9-7 edge in shots on goal and Rowan’s Kylie Durboraw needed to make seven saves on the day.

The Profs head to Susquehanna on Saturday before spending Spring Break in Tennessee with games against Sewanee (March 17) and Rhodes (March 19).
