Coroner Tim Rowland identified the victim as Eric Miller, 56, of Scranton. Miller died as a result of drowning and hypothermia, at 12:11 p.m., Rowland said.

Miller was first reported to be unresponsive in the river at about 11:45 a.m. near the Mulberry Street bridge.

He traveled downstream and was retrieved from the river by first responders near the University of Scranton athletic fields.
