DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Expect to see Plow Force One in action during winter weather next year.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike announced Plow Force One as the winning name Friday in the naming contest for its new super snow plow that debuted this year.
Plow Force One beat out four other finalists: Darth Blader, Big Leplowski, Optimus Plow and Sir Plows-A-Lot. Plow Force One won in a landslide, earning over twice as many votes as the next closest name.
The super snow plow can clear a width of 27 feet in one pass, working much faster than current snow plow trucks, according to the Turnpike.
It was deployed in Somerset this year, clearing out 3,500 total miles of snow. Plow Force One is planned to be moved to other areas to measure its effectiveness in different locations and conditions.
“Larger equipment, like the super snow plow, allows PA Turnpike crews to continue clearing large snow volumes quickly with the same amount of manpower,” the release said.
