DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Drivers traveling on Interstate 81 in Lackawanna County should expect lane restrictions next week as crews conduct tree-trimming work along the highway.

According to transportation officials, the work is scheduled Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and will impact several sections of Interstate 81 and nearby entrance and exit ramps.

From Monday through Wednesday, lane restrictions will be in place on Interstate 81 southbound between Exit 185 (President Biden Expressway) and Exit 182B (Davis Street).

Additional restrictions are planned later in the week. On Thursday and Friday, work will affect the Route 8024 ramp to Interstate 81 northbound between Exit 186 (Dunmore/Drinker Street) and Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop), as well as the Interstate 84 westbound connection to Route 347.

On Thursday, drivers may also see lane closures on Interstate 81 southbound between Exit 190 (Dickson City/Main Avenue) and Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop).

Several ramps connecting Route 347 and Route 8009 to Interstate 81 southbound and Interstate 84 eastbound will also experience restrictions that day as crews trim trees near the roadway.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use caution in work zones, and allow extra travel time while the maintenance work is underway.
