CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Congressman Scott Perry toured the Amsted Rail facility in Camp Hill on Wednesday morning, stopping at several areas of the plant to learn about the economic contributions in Pennsylvania.

Chris Athas, general counsel of Amsted Rail, said the company has a long history of U.S. manufacturing and produces key components used on freight cars.

“We’ve been manufacturing in the United States since the late 19th century,” Athas said. “The bogey system that goes under a freight car and everything below the box with the tank, we make.”

Perry was joined by Kelly Loeffler, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Perry also addressed criticism over current energy prices, saying the increases do not reflect President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” policies and instead stem from previous administrations.

He said change cannot happen in one year and that relief is coming.

“Honestly, I hate to be partisan, but they’re Democrat policies whether it’s the state level or the federal level,” Perry said. “We absolutely know people are struggling to pay the bills, particularly those electricity bills, and it takes more than a year to change that.”
