Walking club: Valley in Motion kicking off the Connell Park Walking Club, March 21, 10 a.m., Connell Park, 800 Gibbons St., Scranton. This “Walk With A Doc” program is starting its fourth year. The walking club is free. Walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Seed demonstration: Seed starting for families, March 21, 1-3 p.m., Greenhouse Project Regis, 200 Arthur Ave., Scranton. Penn State Master Gardeners in collaboration with the Greenhouse Project will present and demonstrate how to grow food from seeds. Topics: seed selection, containers, planting depth, watering and light, and seedling care. Families are encouraged to attend. Participants will take home a ready-to-grow kit with soil seeds and trays; $5, registration is required; email program@scrantongreenhouse.org.
Estate planning: The Scranton Area Community Foundation free community seminar, “Planning Ahead Made Simple: A Free Estate Planning Seminar,” Thursday, 5-7 p.m., foundation’s offices at the Century Club, 612 Jefferson Ave. in Scranton. The educational event is designed to help individuals and families better understand the fundamentals of estate planning. Featured speakers include: attorney Scott Lynett, who will discuss estate planning basics, including wills and essential legal documents; Charles Curtin, senior vice president and trust officer, Honesdale National Bank, who will explain what happens after death and how estate administration works; and Michael Cordaro, MBA, financial planner, who will discuss how estate planning connects with financial and tax planning strategies. The seminar is open to individuals and families at any stage of life. The evening will begin with a complimentary dinner at 5 p.m., followed by the educational presentation and discussion.
