OBITUARY

Robert Andrew Kubrick, 99, passed away peacefully on March 8. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he lived a long life marked by hard work, service, and dedication to family.

Born and raised in Olyphant, PA during the Great Depression, Robert grew up in a hardworking family. His experiences shaped the strong work ethic he carried throughout his life.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Trenton from 1944 to 1946, attaining the rank of Seaman Second Class. He remained deeply proud of his service to his country.

Following his military service, Robert worked as a carpenter alongside his father and brothers, learning the trade and eventually building a home for his own family. He later became a self-taught master mechanic and went on to own and operate Kubrick’s Service Station in Scranton and Clarks Summit for 46 years, becoming a familiar and trusted figure in the community.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hannah; his son, Robert; his grandchildren, Robert, Timothy, Christopher, and Sarah; and his great-grandchildren, Emilia and Landon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Kubrick; his wife, Shirley; his brothers, Edward, Albert, and William; his sister, Natalie; and his daughter-in-law, Susan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Carlo Acutis / St. Patrick’s Church in Olyphant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, Jessup.

Robert’s life was defined by perseverance, service, and devotion to family, values that continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
