SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Parade Day means a big boost of tourism for the city of Scranton and bars, especially, see a big influx of people.

Backyard Ale House hosted events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the parade all day. Before the parade even started, dozens came to grab a drink, listen to music, and enjoy the weekend. Throughout the course of the day, the bar expects hundreds to come through, and for the owners, the preparation is an event in it of itself.

“In terms of gross earnings, most activity, and preparation, it’s a lot of work that goes into it and this is definitely a good day but a lot of work to get there,” explained Patrick Nasser, co-owner of Backyard Ale House.

The bars and restaurants around the downtown city square only got busier as the afternoon went on and for owners like Nasser, the mountain of prep work is all worth it for one of the most profitable days of the year.
