Join your neighbors as we assemble ‘whistle kits’ to distribute throughout the community.

Sunday, March 22
10AM-2PM
Allegheny City Brewery
510 E Ohio St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Each kit contains a whistle, lanyard, ‘Know Your Rights’ info, a zine explaining the whistle, and other info.
It is the perfect way to keep a whistle in your day bag, one at home, one in the car, etc.
The information comes through Frontline Dignity and Casa San Jose. The whistles come from 3D printers around the region.
Pittsburgh LGBTQ Charities donated 1,000 lanyards.

How can you help?
Donate your gently used lanyards from conferences, tradeshows, and other events. Whether a handful or a boxful, they will go to good use. Ask your colleagues, family, and friends.
Connect with Frontline Dignity and/or Casa San Jose to get trained as a volunteer. There are many different ways to show up.
Join Signal to plug into many resistance efforts.
Donate food and supplies for neighbors sheltering in place.
Show up and speak out at public meetings – school boards, borough councils, townhall. Use FB and NextDoor or visit their own website, look for the action or inaction to protect neighbors. Then say something. Applaud the courageous choices. Denounce cowardice. Demand action. Keep going back.
Use your social media to share credible reports – the frozen water army is still active in the Twin Cities, Los Angeles, and Portland. They’ve increased their activity across Pennsylvania, but also Vermont, New Hampshire, Maryland, and beyond. Sharing credible information is very important to keep the public eye on this illegal violence.
Distribute a whistle kit to everyone on your block. Personally. Start a block text chain or Signal group. Pay attention and keep each other safe.
The kits cost money to create, but are available free of charge. Using local 3D printers, local print shops, and repurposing items like lanyards helps. You can donate here
PLC is focused on distributing kits to the LGBTQ+ community, the animal welfare/pet owners community, and our Northside neighbors. We have to contribute to production costs for these kits. From Biscuit Bingo to OUTrageous Bingo, we’ll be dragging our kits everywhere.
We estimate each kit costs $.50 to create, give or take. Your co$25ntribution gets more whistles on the streets. Any excess goes to support related efforts. $5.00 = 10 kits, $10.00 = 20 kits, $25.00 = 50 kits.

Pittsburgh LGBTQ Charities is taking action as an organization. We’ve decided to lean into our existing projects by distributing whistle kits (and information) throughout the LGBTQ+ community and the animal welfare/pet owner worlds, in addition to our nearby neighbors on the Northside.
If your LGBTQ+ organization, your rescue, your group of friends would like whistle kits, we are one resource. We see you doing important work throughout the region, especially in areas that aren’t friendly or supportive. We know our immigrant and refugee neighbors are also part of the LGBTQ+ community and also have pets or care for community cats.
