OBITUARY
Ronald J. Edwards passed away early Monday morning on March 9th, 2026, at the age of 92 in Visalia, California, where hes resided for the last 44 years with loving family.
He was born in his family home in Jermyn, Pennsylvania on November 4, 1933. He survived his wife of 57-years, Harriet Nicholson Edwards and the love of his life (passed 2014).
After graduating Jermyn High School -1951, he served in the United States Airforce as an Airman First Class. He was a Free Mason and a Volunteer Firefighter at the Crystal Hose House Fire Company for 13 years, having saved numerous lives. Upon being promoted within the manufacturing company he worked, he moved his family of five to California – 1969 to run the West Coast division of a perforated metals company in the bay area. He had worked his way from a shipping clerk to the President, working every position in between in both the shop and the office, with the company changing hands and names along the way. Through his 40+ year career, his leadership established innovative techniques and a plant layout that challenged and changed the industry with cutting edge technologies to be acknowledged as the best in the business at the time, particularly within the Industrial Perforators Association and worldwide. As well as his love of technology, he also enjoyed carpentry (building a house with his beloved brother), bowling, billiards, tossing horseshoes, darts, airplanes and trains.
He is survived by his three daughters: Denise A. Ellwood (Orinda, CA), Barbara L. Edwards-Miller (Visalia, CA), Beth-Ellen Edwards- Tarr (Fir Island Mount Vernon, WA), 2 sons-in-law, 3 grandsons and a great grandson.
Along with his good nature and positive attitude, he will be greatly missed. He was a good man with a kind heart.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 AM from the Battenberg Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Joseph Sudano of St. James/St. George Episcopal Church, Jermyn. Viewing 4-6 Thursday. Interment Jermyn Cemetery.
