SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Before the parade stepped off, another annual tradition was held in downtown Scranton. Saint Peter’s Cathedral hosted its annual Saint Patrick’s Parade Day Mass on Saturday morning.
Bishop Bambera led the mass, and various priests from the diocese of Scranton concelebrated.

“As a Christian, it’s very important. It keeps everyone in the spirit, and the upbringing of our family and our heritage. That’s what makes this worthwhile. And I hope this will continue forever,” 2003 Parade Association President Robert Osborne said.
Local organizations also participated in the mass, including the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Irish Cultural Society.
