OBITUARY

Thomas M. Moll, 81, of Wyomissing, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at St. Joesph’s

Hospital & Medical Center, Bern Township. He was survived by his cherished wife of thirty

years, Anne Overly-Moll.

Born in Reading, Tom was the son of the late Abner “AJ” and Ruth (Putt) Moll. Tom dedicated

his life to serving others. Upon his graduation from Reading Central Catholic High School in

1962, he enlisted in the US Navy. During his four years in the military, he was a Naval Flight

Engineer and bravely served in theater in Vietnam. In 1966, he joined the Wyomissing Police

Department where he served until retiring as a Sergeant. He later served as the Director of

Security for Vanity Fair Corporation. He left Vanity Fair to own and operate Schott’s Candy,

West Reading with his spouse, Anne, until retiring again in 2000.

Not content with sitting still in retirement, Tom won several consecutive terms to serve on the

Wyomissing Borough Council and was president for his last term in office. During his tenure, he

rotated his assignments, so he served on every borough committee, and given his complete

understanding of the Borough’s operations, upon leaving Council, he was appointed to serve as

the Wyomissing Borough Treasurer, a position he held for several years.

In addition to his family and community, Tom loved keeping up on current events and was

passionate about his collection of 1960’s muscle cars. He loved discussing politics at all

government levels, especially Wyomissing. He had an astounding encyclopedic memory of local

history. He always had a story to share of his time serving his country, his community and his

fellow citizens. A proud southpaw, Tom will be remembered most by his friends and family for

his robust sense of humor and sharing a good belly laugh. His favorite motto was, “If it’s sweet,

I eat.”

Tom was quite proud of his Catholic faith. He recounted numerous times where other faiths

failed miserably at attempts to make him convert. He quipped, “I was born a Roman Catholic

and shall die a Roman Catholic!”

In addition to his spouse, Tom is survived by his daughter Lisa Prather (Jeffrey); stepsons

Brenton Watts and Dr. Benjamin Watts; grandchildren Carter Moll, Ella Moll, Samantha Prather,

JP Prather, and Brittany Haywood; great-granddaughter Harper; sister Mary Guziak (Ronald);

and his beloved one-eyed ginger-cat, Dewey.

Tom was predeceased by his son Robert Moll (October 2025) and his brother Michael Moll

(survived by his wife Wendy).

A prayer service will be held later this spring with details to be posted on the Kuhn Funeral
