DOWNINGTOWN, CHESTER CO. (WOLF) — The Pennsylvania State Police have announced funeral arrangements, road closures, and streaming information for Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., who died in the line of duty on March 8.
Funeral Service and Livestream
The funeral service will take place Wednesday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, located at 338 Manor Avenue in Downingtown.
For those unable to attend in person, the Pennsylvania State Police say the service will be livestreamed on the Pennsylvania State Police Facebook page beginning at 11 a.m.
Procession and Road Closures
Traffic restrictions will begin the day before the funeral to accommodate a police escort procession.
On Tuesday, March 17, roads will close starting at 2 p.m. for the procession traveling to St. Joseph Parish. Closures will include:
North Church Street at West Biddle Street in West Chester BoroughManor Avenue near St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown Borough
Officials say North Church Street outside the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home will be closed two hours before the escort procession begins. Roads are expected to reopen after the procession passes.
Funeral Day Traffic Restrictions
Additional closures will be in place on Wednesday, March 18, for the funeral service and procession.
The following traffic restrictions are planned:
Manor Avenue (Route 322) between Rock Raymond Road and East Pennsylvania Avenue from 6 a.m. until about 3 p.m.All ramps from the Route 30 bypass to Manor Avenue (Route 322) will begin around 11 a.m.Manor Road (Route 82) between Horseshoe Pike and Culbertson Run Road, starting around 1 p.m.Rolling closures along Horseshoe Pike (Route 322) between Lancaster Avenue and Manor Road (Route 82) beginning around 1 p.m.Expect Heavy Traffic
Pennsylvania State Police say a large law enforcement presence and heavy traffic are expected throughout the area as officers from across the state and region attend the service.
Residents, businesses, school districts, and emergency services are encouraged to plan for delays and adjust travel plans accordingly.
State police thanked the public for their patience and cooperation as the community gathers to honor Corporal O’Connor’s service and sacrifice.
