The Pittsburgh Steelers need to solidify their starting quarterback this season. If Aaron Rodgers chooses to retire and doesn’t return to Pittsburgh for another year, there’s a chance it might look to trade for its starting quarterback.

There are several options available for the Steelers to consider in trades, but Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes that Pittsburgh will pursue Mac Jones from the San Francisco 49ers.

“Although the 49ers should aim high for a return on a former first-rounder who’s a capable starter in his prime, they may want to capitalize on Jones’ market while he has some buzz, even if proposals don’t include a Day 1 draft pick,” Moton wrote on Saturday.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers might be one of the teams that inquired about Jones. They will likely have to pay a steep price for him, but the 27-year-old could be a solution that keeps them out of quarterback limbo for the foreseeable future.”

Jones signed a two-year, $8.41 million contract last offseason with the 49ers and did a solid job when Brock Purdy went out with an injury.

The former first-round pick played in 11 games, starting eight, and threw for 2,151 yards and 13 touchdowns, making him an appealing option for the Steelers.
