DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Road closures and restrictions have been announced around Chester County ahead of the escort procession and funeral services for fallen Pennsylvania State Trooper, Corporal Timothy O’Connor.
The viewing, which will be held at St. Joseph Parish on 338 Manor Avenue in Downingtown, is set for March 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. That event is public. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the same church the next morning, March 18. That service is private, but the state’s Commonwealth Media Services will have a livestream online here.
“There will be a heavy volume of traffic in the area, along with delays throughout the day,” Pennsylvania State Police said. “Area residents, businesses, local school districts, as well as additional emergency response agencies in the area, are asked to plan accordingly.”
Road closures will begin at noon on Tuesday, March 17, as an escort procession is held from West Chester to Downingtown.
North Church Street will be closed at Biddle Street in West Chester, and Manor Avenue will be closed near St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown.
The funeral procession will take place on Wednesday, March 18. Road closures include:
Manor Avenue from Rock Raymond Road to East Pennsylvania Avenue, from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m. All ramps from SR 30 bypass to Manor Ave. (SR 322) starting at approximately 11:00 a.m. Manor Road from Horseshoe Pike to Culbertson Run Road starting at approximately 1:00 p.m. Rolling closures of Horseshoe Pike (SR 322) from Lancaster Avenue to Manor Road (SR 82) beginning at approximately 1:00 p.m.
