CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service in Cleveland said a potential meteor in NE Ohio early Tuesday morning is what caused a loud boom that was heard and felt for over 30 miles throughout the region.

The boom occurred shortly before 9 a.m., which reports on social media show was heard from far east Cleveland all the way to the west side in Avon, and even southern parts of the region, like North Olmsted. 

NWS Cleveland posted on X that imagery suggested that the boom was a result of a meteor.

NWS Cleveland said people would have seen a light very similar to lightning, all the way from the west side of Cleveland to the Lake Erie coastline.
