The Pennsylvania State Troop in Erie are currently investigating a recent theft that occurred on March 5 in Harborcreek Township.
On March 5 the victim had been contacted by an individual by the alleged name “Joshua Robert Simmons.” The victim who is not named at this time, had filed a report of suspicious activity on his credit card accounts.
“Joshua” had informed the victim that he would be the FBI Agent assigned to his case and during the fake investigation “Joshua” sent AI generated photos that made it appear as though he was working in an FBI office.
The victim was scammed out of $4,000 in Apple Gift Cards and was instructed to place down payments on several Apple products at a local T-Mobile.
