An 80-year-old Bethlehem man died after he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night in the city.

City police said the man was crossing at the south end of the intersection of Linden Street and Butztown Road when he was hit by a vehicle about 8:15 p.m. That area does not have a crosswalk, and has a “no crossing” sign, the department said.

Additionally, the vehicle had a steady green light when the crash happened, according to the release.

When officers arrived to the area, the man was found unresponsive in the southbound lane of Linden Street, just south of the intersection. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at policetraffic@bethlehem-pa.gov.
