The family of a 17-year-old that passed away in the South Fayette area has started a GoFundMe to help raise funds for local first responders and Pittsburgh-area mental health programs.

Gautham Rajanikanth, who died earlier this week, was a son, “whose life ended far too soon.”

The family says he brought “light, kindness, and energy into the lives of so many.”

To honor Gautham, the family is raising funds.

“In the wake of this tragedy, we want to come together to honor Gautham’s memory in a way that reflects compassion and purpose,” A GoFundMe started by the family says. “In lieu of flowers or gifts, we are asking for donations to support causes that are close to Gautham’s heart and ours while making a meaningful difference for others.”

The funds will be given to the local fire departments that helped in the search for Gautham after he went missing, along with other local search and rescue departments.

Western PA mental health programs will also receive donations in honor of Gautham.
