New York University’s historic undefeated streak in women’s basketball finally came to an end on Thursday night.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), NYU fell 60-52 to Scranton in the Final Four of the Division III NCAA tournament, snapping a 91-game winning streak in the process.
The Violets broke the record for most consecutive wins by a Division III women’s basketball team in February when they won their 82nd game in a row, surpassing Washington University of St. Louis.
Only UConn’s 111 straight wins from 2014 to 2017 are better than NYU’s 91 at any level of women’s college basketball.
Before Thursday, NYU had not lost a game since March 2023. They won back-to-back national championships in 2024 and 2025, but fell two wins short of a three-peat this year.
