A Philadelphia man has been charged in connection with an October shooting.
Talgat Turgunbekov, 19, of Philadelphia, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, stemming from an incident where he allegedly fired shots at a group of juveniles in a Bensalem Township parking lot.
Bensalem Township police responded to the parking lot at 3800 Horizon Boulevard on Saturday, Oct. 11, around 7:10 p.m.
Officers found two spent 9mm shell casings in the area. police said.
No injuries were reported
The juveniles at the scene told officers an man, who was later identified as Turgunbekov, had fired two shots toward their group from inside a blue Toyota before driving away. The teens stated they recognized the man and claimed he had chased them and fired shots on previous, unreported occasions, according to police.
Detectives also learned of another similar unreported incident on Sept. 10 at the same parking garage.
Witnesses at that time reported hearing multiple gunshots after seeing a similar blue sedan, police said.
Police began undercover surveillance of the area.
On Oct. 22, officers spotted a blue sedan matching the description of the suspect, police said.
When police attempted to approach, the driver accelerated toward an officer’s car before fleeing, law enforcement said.
Police obtained the vehicle’s registration before the driver jumped a curb and sped across a grassy area.
Investigators identified the vehicle’s owner, whose son, Turgunbekov, matched the description of the shooter.
The juveniles from the Oct. 11 shooting positively identified Turgunbekov as the suspect, police said.
Detectives uncovered information regarding a separate 2024 road rage incident involving Turgunbekov, where he allegedly brandished a BB rifle and threw a tire iron through another vehicle’s rear window, police said.
Turgunbekov turned himself in to police on Friday.
Turgunbekov was preliminarily arraigned before District Judge Daniel Baranoski and is being held on 10 percent of $250,000 bail.
