State Rep. K.C. Tomlinson announced Wednesday that she will seek reelection to the 18th House District.

Tomlinson, a Republican first elected in a 2020 special election, represents the district that includes Bensalem Township and Hulmeville Borough. She is the daughter of retired State Sen. Tommy Tomlinson.

“I ran for state representative because I knew that I could help, and our working families need help today more than ever,” Tomlinson said. “I have never been shy about standing up for Bensalem and our surrounding communities.”

Tomlinson said she has maintained a reputation in Harrisburg as one of the legislature’s most independent members.

The incumbent lawmaker pointed to the passage of record funding for public schools and the largest property tax relief initiative in 20 years.

In a statement, Tomlinson cited efforts to triple the child tax credit and bolster public safety.

“I have worked with both parties in Harrisburg to deliver for our families,” she said.

The lawmaker noted that her time in office has included efforts to “crack down on crime crossing our border from Philadelphia.”

If reelected, Tomlinson said her next term would focus on economic relief. Her platform includes a proposal to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime pay to help residents “feeling the pinch of rising prices.”

The lawmaker called for reforms to the healthcare system to prioritize patient needs and affordability.

“We must pass family leave and medical leave, and we need to do all of this without raising taxes while empowering our small businesses to create jobs,” Tomlinson said.

Democrat Bryan Allen has announced he is also running for the seat.

A former member of the Bensalem Township Council, Allen previously served as chief of staff for State Rep. Tina Davis.
