Ryan Wynn hit a two-run home run to lead Abington Heights to an 8-5 exhibition baseball victory over Tunkhannock in a rematch of last season’s District 2 Class AAA championship game. Jason Muchler was the winning pitcher for the Comets. Pat Regan had two hits for the Tigers. … Bishop O’Hara basketball star Sara Harris was named to the Eastern Pennsylvania All-Star team for the Eat’n Park Girls Roundball Classic at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Fieldhouse. … Clevio Rogo, Thomas Francis Gavin Sr. and Joseph Battaglia were named to be inducted posthumously into the Scranton Area Sports Hall of Fame. Rogo, who died while serving in the military, excelled in athletics at Old Forge High School and West Chester University in addition to coaching at Old Forge, where he played on a state championship basketball team. Gavin was long involved in Sloan Little League activities, as well as in Senior Babe Ruth League, serving in roles as an officer and coach. Battaglia excelled in football at Dunmore High School and later went on to play at Penn State University on a football scholarship.

Chris Osborne scored 18 points and nine rebounds in Bishop Hannan’s 71-61 loss to District 9 champion Elk County Catholic in the PIAA Class A boys basketball title game. Justin Kearney added 17 points and Brian Siemion tacked on 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Golden Lancers. … Abington Heights’ Becky Burke earned Times-Tribune Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Dunmore’s Lauren Carra, Montrose’s Chelsey Parvin, Scranton Prep’s Kristen Folk and Riverside’s Jenn King also earned All-Region selections, with Scranton’s Pat Ferguson securing Coach of the Year. … Bishop Hannan’s Chris Osborne earned Times-Tribune Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Dunmore’s Kevin Clark, Scranton’s A.J. McKenna, Old Forge’s Jared Yanniello and Mountain View’s Rob Johnson were also All-Region selections, with Bishop Hannan’s Paul Johnson securing Coach of the Year. … Ryan Ruddy won the long, triple and high jumps and added a leg on the 400 relay team, as Abington Heights beat Honesdale, 81-68, for its first Lackawanna Track Conference meet victory in five years in a Division I opener.

Lakeland’s Tony Harding had a 10-point surge in the fourth quarter helped push the Red Team to a 126-122 win over the Blue Team in the annual Lackawanna League Senior All-Star game at Valley View High School. He finished with 15 points, which featured two fourth-quarter 3-pointers from beyond 25 feet, and earned the team’s Most Valuable Player award. Honesdale’s Ian Langendoerfer had 20 points for the Red Team. Holy Cross’ Billy Trainor led the Blue Team with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. … Abington Heights’ Nick Carr earned Times-Tribune Wrestler of the Year. Other All-Region selections were Abington Heights’ Noah Sirianni, Lackawanna Trail’s Trent Phillips, Scranton’s Willy Evanitsky, Scranton Prep’s Thor Balavage, Valley View’s Brandon Judge, Wallenpaupack’s Kyle Hartman, Valley View’s Brett Uhrin, West Scranton’s Jimmy Forsette, Scranton’s Andrew Burgette, Western Wayne’s Cole Fuller, West Scranton’s Bubba Novak, Scranton’s Aidan McNally and Wallenpaupack’s Todd Frick, with Montrose’s Matt Hawley securing Coach of the Year.
