Ava Hazelton carried a no-hitter deep into the game, and Mid Valley put up runs in four of the first five innings to pick up the 4-0 nonleague softball win over Pittston Area on Saturday afternoon at Mid Valley.
Hazelton allowed just two hits, while striking out nine.
Parker Bennett had two of the five Mid Valley hits, while Natalie Hricenak and Avery Tinney each drove in runs.
Gabby Roman and Jillian Haas had hits for Pittston Area, while Samantha Herbert struck out seven in the loss.
North Pocono 9, East Stroudsburg South 3: At East Stroudsburg South, Amelia Bell had two hits and an RBI, Avarie Roscioli had two hits, an RBI and two runs and Riley Grambo had two hits, one RBI and one run to lead the Lady Trojans to a nonleague win.
Olivia Charles added a hit, an RBI and a run for North Pocono.
Dunmore 7, Wyoming Area 2: Wyoming Area, Rachel Walsh had three hits, including a double, and earned the win, allowing three hits, two runs and one walk while striking out 11 in a complete game.
Aubrey Mizenko had three hits, incluidng a triple, and a run, Jackie Brown had a home run and two RBIs and Paige Ancherani had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and a run for the Lady Bucks.
Alexa Gacek had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for the Warriors.
Honesdale 10, Scranton Prep 8: At Connell Park, Kaydence Frampton had a home run, a double and five RBIs to lead the Lady Hornets to a nonleague win.
Abby Carrick had three hits, including two doubles, three RBIs and one run, while Lily Head added two hits, including a double, and a run for Honesdale.
Riah Hogan had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run, and Emelia Williams added two hits, including a double, one RBI and three runs for the Classics.

Jamie McMynne had two hits, two RBIs and three runs, and earned the win, allowing three hits, two unearned runs and three walks while striking out 12 in five innings, to lead Dunmore to an 11-2 nonleague baseball win over Elk Lake at Dunmore.
Anthony Yerka added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs, while Jackson Cady and Jaedyn Kura each tacked on a hit, an RBI and a run for Dunmore.
Alden Felker had a double for the Warriors.
Abington Heights 15, Freedom 5: At Freedom, Evan Gonzalez had three hits, including a double, four RBIs and a run to lead the Comets to a nonleague win.
Reese Zalewski tacked on two hits, including a double, three RBIs and three runs, and Harshal Patel added a hit, two RBIs and two runs for Abington Heights.
Andres Rivera had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI for Freedom.
Lakeland 12, Mountain View 2: At Lakeland, Evan Lonzinski had three hits, including a triple, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Chiefs to a nonleague win.

Mid Valley 16, Lackawanna Trail 6: At Mid Valley, Joey Romanosky had five hits, two RBIs and two runs, as Mid Valley defeated Lackawanna Trail in five innings.
Zach Buza had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Brett Yanoski, Jeremy Cali, Nick Hricenak and Aaron Merrifield each tacked on two hits for the Spartans.
Tyler Jervis had a double, two RBIs and a run for Lackawanna Trail.
Western Wayne 2, Nativity BVM 1: At Western Wayne, Andrew Boandl’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning rallied the Wildcats to a nonleague victory over Nativity BVM.
Jameson McCollum tossed a complete-game three-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts to get the win for Western Wayne.
Lake-Lehman 7, Western Wayne 3: At Western Wayne, the Black Knights had 14 hits as Lehman picked up the nonleague win over the Wildcats.
Devon Albee led the way for Lehman, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Chase Aten added three hits, while Will Jenkins, Tyler Sassi and Justin Morris each had two hits.
Andrew Morris picked up the win, throwing five innings of two-hit ball with four strikeouts.
Damian Glackin and Ale Decandis each had two hits for the Wildcats.
Honesdale 5, Scranton Prep 1: At Connell Park, Gino Patrisso had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in the Hornets’ nonleague win.
Ethan Corso had a double and two RBIs, Trevor Dressler had a double, an RBI and a run and Connor Tirney had a double and two runs for Honesdale.
Brody Patrisso allowed three hits and no runs while striking out five in five innings for the Hornets.

Montrose 13, Holy Cross 1: At Holy Cross, Adam Sorensen had three hits, including two triples, two RBIs and three runs and pitched three innings, allowing two hits, one unearned run and two walks while striking out five, as the Meteors won a nonleague game in six innings.

Track and field
Wallenpaupack’s Ryan Vargo set a school record with a throw of 173 feet, 4 inches to win the discus event at the NEPA Throwers Invitational at East Stroudsburg South High School.
Vargo broke the record of 169-11 held by Justin Kraft since 2005. It is also the second-best distance in Lackawanna Track Conference history, surpassing the mark of 171-7 by Lakeland’s CJ Dippre in 2019. North Pocono’s Matt Slagus holds the conference record of 187-4 set in 2016.
The distance is also ranked first in the state for the early season, according to pa.milesplit.com.
