After a devastating fire destroyed the Kilcoyne’s bar in the West Side Hotel, the Scranton community rallied to support owner Tom Coyne with one last call.
SCRANTON, Pa. — Community members in Lackawanna County came out to support a man after a fire destroyed his business.Â
Kilcoyne’s bar was considered a landmark in Scranton until last year, when a massive fire spread throughout the West Side Hotel, destroying the iconic first-floor bar owned by Tom Coyne.
Large crowds gathered at St. Mary’s Center along Mifflin Avenue in Scranton, all in an effort to help Coyne following his tragic loss.Â
“The crowd. The people. The West Side people. The glue is always there. They show up, and they show up for everybody. That’s the greatest thing about Scranton. When somebody’s down, Scranton will lift you up,” said the organizer of the event, EJ Dougher.
All funds raised from Sunday’s event will go directly towards helping Coyne after the fire.
