• The 25th annual Jewish Food and Cultural Festival will be held on Nov. 2 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom, 555 Warwick Drive, Wyomissing. Items for sale include apple cake, brisket, pastrami, corned beef, hot dogs and more. Order meals in advance on the website. Cantor Stuart Binder will perform music in the Jewish tradition. Tour the sanctuary with Rabbi Brian Michelson and hear the blowing of the Shofar. The cultural room invites guests of all ages to take part in hands-on games activities to help explain traditions.
• Theology with a Twist will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Kutztown Tavern, 272 W. Main St., Kutztown. The landscape and urgency of food insecurity both nationally and locally has changed dramatically over the past five years. Join Jay Worrall, president of Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank since 2019, to discuss the drivers of food insecurity in our community and share ways in which our community is working to address those challenges. We also intend to support Friend Inc. (our local Helping Harvest organization) through November’s event, so bring peanut butter and jelly to donate. The event is free, but food and drink can be purchased in the restaurant downstairs and brought up to the event space. Parking is available in the community lot behind the tavern or on Main Street.
• Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will celebrate Reformation Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship service with a brass quartet, timpani and the Reformation Choir, all under the direction of Dr. Heidi Rochlin.
• A joint choir will sing a version of “A Mighty Fortress” during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County. Coffee and Conversation will be held at 8:30. The FUN Committee will host a coffee hour in the Welcome Center at 10. Brown bag Bible study will be held on Wednesday at noon in the Welcome Center.
• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Memorial Hall. It will be Jingle Sunday, with the collecting of loose coins to be donated to Family Promise of Berks County. Fellowship will follow the service. Bible study will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
• There will be a meeting of the Christian pet loss support group on Nov. 3 at 6:45 p.m. at St. John’s Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Ave., SInking Spring. Sessions are led by Dr. Becky Frank, associate veterinarian with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice. The free program consists of six different sessions and participants may join at any time. • The Rev. Kenneth Gould will be the guest pastor for the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Salem Lutheran Church, 8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel Township. There will be social time in the multi-purpose room after the service.
• Henry B. Smith Jr., staff researcher at the Associates for Biblical Research, administrator for the Shiloh dig and host for the TV show “Digging for Truth,” will be the guest speaker for the Fall Bible Conference on Nov. 9 at Open Bible Baptist Church, 10 Park Lane, Lower Alsace Township. The theme for the conference will be “Archaeology and Apologetics: How a Study of the Past Proves the Truth of the Bible”. There will be four sessions throughout the day: 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. (main service), 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., with lunch immediately following the 10:45 service.
• Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township, will have Trunk or Treat in the parking lot today from 5-7 p.m.
• United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., will celebrate Harvest Home during its 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday by collecting monetary gifts for the Conrad Weiser Food Pantry and Helping Harves. • Piercing Word will be at Kissinger’s Bible Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. Aaron and Emily House will speak on “Becoming Warriors of the Word.” They use the scriptures and stories from their own lives of how God has used his word to win powerful spiritual victories in the midst of rage, neurological disorders, lust, miscarriage and grief.
