Three residents were displaced after a fire in North Scranton on Monday morning, Scranton Assistant Fire Chief Brian Scottc said.
Crews responded to 2149 Ballau Ave. around 7:27 a.m. for a report of a structure fire with entrapment, but the residents were outside when firefighters arrived, Scott said.
One resident was transported to a hospital to be treated for burns, Scott added.
Firefighters rescued a dog from the second floor of the residence, Scott said.
The residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire on the first floor at the rear of the building, Scott said.
The single-family dwelling sustained heavy fire damage on the first floor and smoke and heat damage on the second floor, he added.
Crews remained on the scene for about two hours, Scott said. The cause remains under investigation.
