OLEY TWP., Pa. – A crash involving an occupied school bus caused some tense moments for a group of area students Monday. 

Central Berks Regional Police say the incident happened just before noon in the 3000 block of Friedensburg Road, Oley Township.

According to police, a school bus transporting Twin Valley High School students to the Berks Career and Technology Center left the road for unknown reasons and hit an electrical pole, resulting in a power outage in the area.

The bus driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation and students on board suffered only minor bumps and bruises, police say.

Authorities say, at the same time, a second accident happened nearby when a fire truck heading to the scene of the bus crash collided with another car. There is no word at this time what caused the crash or if anyone was injured.

The bus crash remains under investigation.
