Warren County, PA – Erie News Now is teaming up with Warren County Crime Stoppers to launch a new weekly segment focused on community safety.

The segment, called “Crime of the Week,” will highlight wanted individuals and criminal activity while also showing how the public can help.

The partnership comes as Warren County Crime Stoppers continues to grow its presence in the community. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, members say they have worked to strengthen the nonprofit, and those efforts are beginning to pay off.

“We want to create an atmosphere where people can call in anonymously if they choose and can receive their cash rewards,” said Jeff Walters, president of Warren County Crime Stoppers. “We just want people to come forward, give us the information and help us help the police out.”

Officials say community involvement is key to making the area safer.

“We are in the position now where we can start utilizing the community again to help us in combating crime,” said Cody Brown, Warren County district attorney. “So we are stepping forward, trying to get the word out so that we can keep helping our community stay safe.”

Philip Hampson, vice president of Warren County Crime Stoppers, said his connection to the organization goes back decades. His father was one of the founding members in the 1970s, and he has seen firsthand how the group has grown.

“It’s been absolutely amazing to have the support that we are receiving from everybody in the community including our local businesses,” Hampson said. “It’s a good feeling to be a part of this and have the whole thing moving forward and gaining steam.”

The “Crime of the Week” segment will be available each week online at erienewsnow.com.
