OBITUARY
Darryl W. “Skip” Harries, 82, of Allentown, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He and his wife, Barbara G. (Jarrett), were married 47 years. Born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Skip was the son of the late Jeanne E. (Muir) and William Foster Muhs Harries.
Skip was a graduate of Augusta Military School in Virginia and later attended North Carolina State University. For 58 years, he worked as a dedicated salesperson at Bally Ribbon Mills, the family business, until his retirement. Known for his warmth and kindness, he was a beloved member of his community and proud member of Brookside Country Club.
An avid sports fan, Skip had a deep passion for ice hockey and baseball. He was a regular attendee at Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Iron Pigs games. Additionally, he enjoyed watching golf and traveled to various tournaments each year, along with following Formula 1 racing. Above all, Skip cherished his family, especially his nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Skip is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his son, William F. M. Harries; and his sister-in-law, Frances Chamberlin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Dixon.
Services: A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1 PM, at Heintzelman – Stephens Funeral Home, P. C. A visitation will take place beginning at 12 PM. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Lehigh Valley Humane Society or St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
