Looking to buy some gold or some jewelry? The Pennsylvania Treasury might have what you’re looking for.
The treasury will host an online auction Wednesday with thousands of different unclaimed items, including a pearl necklace, gold bracelets and a coin set, available. All proceeds will remain available until the owner claims it, according to a treasury news release.
“Our goal is always to get every item in our care back into the hands of its rightful owner,” Treasurer Stacy Garrity said in a news release. “But some items do occasionally find their way to auction after three or more years, so we can make room for new unclaimed property in our vault.”
The unclaimed items such as jewelry and collectibles come to the treasury often through abandoned safe deposit boxes. Financial assets such as dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks and insurance policies are also unclaimed property.
The auction will be hosted by Chester County-based Pook & Pook. Those interested in bidding on the items may do so at pookandpook.com. The treasury said items listed could change before the auction if new information about the item’s authenticity or value are discovered.
Some of the items included are:
• Cultured pearl necklace and bracelet with 14K and ruby clasps
• Two 22K yellow gold cufflinks
• American Eagle gold coin set
• Sterling silver tea service
• 20 Wallace sterling silver wine cups
