Abigail Gelinger had 13 kills, including the 500th of her career, and Mckenna Zick had 28 assists, including the 1,000th of her career, as top-seeded Blue Ridge defeated No. 8 Elk Lake, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-17), in the quarterfinals of the District 2 Class 2A girls volleyball playoffs Friday.
Blue Ridge (18-1) will host the semifinal doubleheader Tuesday and play No. 4 Lake-Lehman (12-7) in the second match. No. 2 Holy Redeemer (18-3) will face No. 6 Western Wayne (11-9) in the first match at 5 p.m.
Emily Gorham added eight kills and Mila Kott had five kills for the Lady Raiders. Gelinger also contributed five blocks, and Zick had 13 service points with two aces.
Sally Farrell had four kills and three blocks, Maddy Ely had 10 assists and six digs, Aleece Greenley had three kills and Addo Azaravich had three digs and three aces for Elk Lake (6-13).
Class 3A
Second-seeded Abington Heights remained undefeated with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-15) win over No. 7 Nanticoke Area in the District 2 Class 3A quarterfinals.
Abington Heights improved to 21-0 and will play No. 3 Crestwood (17-2), which defeated North Pocono, 3-1, in the first match of the semifinal doubleheader at Berwick on Tuesday.
Madison Smith had 12 digs and three assists to lead the Lady Comets. Brielle Wentz had seven digs and 16 assists, Alaina Krempasky had nine kills and Veda Dickinson had four aces, five kills and three digs for Abington Heights.
Cailey Kravitz had 10 digs, Callie Welch had five kills and three blocks, and Amiah Ceruti had eight assists for Nanticoke Area (8-11).
Berwick 3, Valley View 0: Zoey Force had 19 service points, with four aces and 11 digs to lead the No. 1 seed to a 25-8, 25-13, 25-13 win over No. 8 Valley View.
Berwick (16-1) advances and will host the semifinals Tuesday. Berwick will play Dallas (17-4) in the semifinals following the Abington Heights vs. Crestwood semifinal.
Brylee Weaver had three aces, eight service points and four digs. Grace Robbins added 10 kills, Angie Colone had nine kills, Taylor Riera-Gomez had six kills and Lea Adamo had five kills. Julia Rauch finished with 30 assists, 14 digs and three kills for Berwick.
