Charles Francis McDermott

OBITUARY

Charles Francis McDermott, 73, of Clarks Summit, died Friday, in Allied Services Hospice Center. He was the husband of Anne Marie (McDonnell) McDermott.

Born February 7, 1953 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Richard Joseph and Margaret Johanna (Mawn) McDermott. Charles graduated from West Scranton High School in 1971 where he lettered in track and swimming and was a member of the chorus and projection club. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1975 – 1985 and was stationed in various places such as Korea and Colorado. He was a disabled veteran, awarded good conduct medal 3 times, the Army Achievement Medal 2 times for Meritorious Service, The US Army Certificate of Achievements at Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fr. Carson for Exemplory Service. He later graduated from Lackawanna Career Technology Center from their machinist course. Charles worked for Tobyhanna Army depot in Supply Chain Management.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his daughter, Casey Lynn McDermott and companion Marcel Evans, stepsons, Matthew Shaw and wife Erica of Virginia Beach, Va, and Jake Shaw of Pittsburgh; sister, Eileen Janosko and husband Patrick of Sayre, granddaughters, Morgan Shaw and Genevieve McDermott, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother Paul McDermott.

The funeral was private at the convenience of the family.
