Cecilia Trapani Krulewicz, age 84, West Scranton, passed away Saturday evening at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Scranton after a brief stay. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Stanley P. Krulewicz, who died May 30, 2010.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Paul P. and Rose Bocchino Trapani, she was educated at Mother Cabrini School and St. Patrick’s High School in West Scranton, and went on to attend nursing school in New York City, later graduating from Lackawanna Junior College.
Cecilia and her mother Rose were the organists at St. Lucy’s Church in West Scranton for almost ninety years combined, and through which she exemplified her tremendous love and dedication to God. In addition to playing the organ, Cecilia was a pianist and provided lessons to many students. She also was a talented watercolor painter and enjoyed crocheting. Cecilia maintained an extraordinary relationship / connection to her mother’s siblings – (her Aunt and Uncles) including all of their children throughout her entire life…
Her family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for his kind attention, Tyler the registered nurse on the second floor rehab unit of Elan Skilled Nursing for going out of his way to assist Cecilia and her family, as well as the rest of the dedicated staff of the facility who provided compassionate care during her times of need.
The family would like to especially extend their appreciation to Cecilia’s son Matthew for his dedicated care and devotion to his mother’s well-being through the years.
She is survived by her three sons, Stan and wife Denise of Gilbertsville, Gregory and wife Angela of Scranton, and Matthew of Scranton; four grandchildren, Ryan Krulewicz of Carlisle, Adam Krulewicz and wife Hannah of Tennessee, Sarah Krulewicz of New York City, and Caroline Krulewicz of Scranton; a great-grandson, Vanston Edward Krulewicz of Tennessee; her brother, Vincent Trapani and wife Karen of Port St. Lucie, Florida; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Jackson St., West Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, West Scranton.
