WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan, who represents parts of Berks and Chester counties, introduced legislation today aimed at preventing tragedies like the deadly 2023 explosion at R.M. Palmer in West Reading.

She says it’s a bipartisan measure that aims to prevent future pipeline accidents caused by legacy plastic piping, including the material linked to the Palmer incident.

Houlahan says the bill follows recommendations made by the National Transportation Safety Board.

It would require operators to identify and address problems with legacy piping materials.
