PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Phillies will carry the fourth highest payroll in baseball into the 2026 season, reflecting ownership’s continued investment into keeping a championship contender on the field into the future.
The Phillies have the fourth highest overall payroll in MLB, per online tracker Sportrac, along with the 5th highest paid player in baseball in starting pitcher Zack Wheeler.
Despite that, they also have several stars on what are widely considered “team-friendly” deals, or salaries significantly below similarly talented players. That includes two-time MVP Bryce Harper, whose average annual value of $26 million is only 38th in baseball. Recently extended ace pitcher Cristopher Sanchez, similarly, is not even in the top 50 at $17.8 million a year, despite finishing 2025 as the second best pitcher in the National League.
Below are the average annual salaries for every player on the Phillies 26 man roster to start 2026, along with salaries for three players expected to join the team once they are healthy.
If the player is within the top 50 salaries in MLB, that ranking has also been noted. Figures are compiled from Sportrac.
