A delicious world record was set at the Philadelphia International Airport.

In honor of National Cheesesteak Day on Tuesday, March 24, PHL Food & Shops, in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, attempted to set a Guinness World Record for the “Longest Line of Cheesesteaks” at the airport.

And they succeeded.

Volunteers assemble cheesesteaks in a Guinness World Record attempt on National Cheesesteak Day at Philadelphia International Airport, Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

All restaurants at the airport with cheesesteaks on their menus, including Chickie’s & Pete’s, Geno’s Steaks, Jim’s South St. Famous Cheesesteaks, Passyunk Steaks, Tony Luke’s, and more, collaborated in assembling a continuous, “concourse-spanning line” of authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks.

A Guinness World Records representative was on site to verify the final count of 1291 cheesesteaks — spanning more than three football fields and occupying nearly the entire concourse between Terminals B and C — and confirmed that the historic milestone had been achieved.

Officials said the cheesesteak line consisted of 225 pounds of cheese sauce, 990 pounds of shaved ribeye, and over 1,200 foot-long rolls.

“In 2026, Philly is on a roll literally and figuratively,” Chief Commercial Officer for the Department of Aviation Kate Sullivan said in a news release. “Cooking and assembling the longest line of cheesesteaks ever will be among many historic moments in Philadelphia this year. Congratulations and thanks to all the cheesesteak restaurants here at PHL that collaborated on this delicious, record-setting accomplishment. And thanks to Guinness World Records for acknowledging this achievement.”
