ArtsQuest has canceled the popular Cars and Coffee events this year because of ongoing construction at the SteelStacks.
The nonprofit organization said Tuesday on social media that because of construction at the PNC lot and the Turn and Grind Shop area by the visitor’s center, along with the reduced event footprint, that ArtsQuest will not move forward with the car shows this year.
“The safety of our guests, staff and participating vehicles remains our top priority,” the organization posted.
ArtsQuest noted that the event has grown into something special over the years, and they are looking ahead and exploring opportunities to bring it back in the future. The Cars and Coffee car meets were held monthly at SteelStacks in Bethlehem in the spring and summer. The meets have been held there since 2013, and drew thousands of spectators.
The 27,000-square-foot Turn and Grind shop is undergoing renovations and will reopen next year. The renovations are going to expand the footprint for ArtsQuest programs.
