The Eynon-Archbald Lions Club is bringing Easter cheer to area children and families at its annual Easter egg hunt, a tradition for over a decade.

The free community event will be held Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at the Archbald Community Ambulance and Rescue Squad, 195 Delaware St. The rain date is Sunday, March 29.

The Eynon-Archbald Lions have put on the Easter egg hunt for 13 years, said Erin Owen, the club’s vice president.

“We look forward to this wonderful event each and every year,” she said.

Over 250 children attend the event annually, Owen said. More than 1,000 Easter eggs are stuffed with candy and toys.

Archbald Borough is donating Easter baskets and other goodies “as a token of their appreciation and celebration of the borough’s 150th birthday,” said Owen, who is also a borough councilwoman.

Each child will receive a candy bag and an Easter basket, Owen said. Kids will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny at no cost.

All children in attendance will have the chance to win one of four bikes in a free raffle.

The Eynon-Archbald Lions’ annual Easter egg hunt also includes an Easter bonnet contest for the kids. Children can win prizes by being nominated in different categories, Owen said.

The club likes to change up the categories from year to year, which can include prettiest and funniest, Owen said.

The Easter egg hunt allows the Eynon-Archbald Lions to engage with the youngest members of the community.

Owen said the club’s favorite part of the event is “the happy smiling faces on the children. They so much appreciate this.”

The Eynon-Archbald Lions Club has 65 members, Owen said. In addition to the annual Easter egg hunt, the club holds a variety of events and activities in service of the community.

In January, the Eynon-Archbald Lions hosted their 11th annual Snowflake Gala, which benefits Leader Dogs for the Blind and the club’s community events.

The Lions conduct Adopt-A-Highway cleanups in the spring and fall, prepare and deliver Thanksgiving meals and distribute hats, scarves and gloves at the Santa Train event in Archbald. The club also collects eyeglasses.
