A local attorney’s law license will be suspended next month while drug charges against him remain pending in Northampton County Court.

The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on Tuesday temporarily suspended Stanley Margle III. The suspension, which will remain until there is additional action by the board, goes into effect April 23.

Margle, 68, of Palmer Township, remains charged with misdemeanor drug possession offenses for allegedly bringing drugs to the Northampton County Courthouse and the Northampton County Juvenile Justice Center last year. Charges were filed last year. He was paroled to an inpatient rehabilitation last month in both cases, according to court records.

His attorney did not immediately return a request for comment Thursday.

Police allege the following happened:

Margle was first charged in February 2025, when authorities found suspected cocaine in his bag while at the juvenile justice center, according to charging documents filed by Bethlehem Township police as part of the Northampton County Drug Task Force.

A bag was found in the attorney waiting room there, and a sheriff’s deputy opened the bag to try to identify the owner.. Two baggies filled with a white powdery substance were found there. Margle was seen on video surveillance entering the room earlier, and leaving the facility without it not long after, police said. The substance was field-tested and it tested positive for cocaine.

In July, when Margle was at the county courthouse, he left his bag in the mediation office, and a sheriff’s deputy opened it to find out who owned it. Inside he found a plastic container with white powdery substance, and a red straw. The bag also had legal documents in Margle’s name.

The box and the straw were tested, and cocaine residue was found on them.

He is charged with misdemeanors of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Margle was also the solicitor of Wilson. He was replaced last month, according to borough council meeting minutes.

He has an office in Bethlehem Township, according to his law office’s website. Margle’s practice concentrates on divorce, domestic relations and real estate law, his website states.
