A high-speed crash involving three vehicles left a Brooklyn man dead and four others hurt early Tuesday morning in the area of the I-95 interchange in Bensalem Township.

Bensalem Township police, fire, and EMS crews responded to the scene on Street Road at approximately midnight after reports of a vehicle fire with passengers trapped inside.

According to a preliminary investigation by police, 44-year-old Timur Khabelov of Brooklyn, New York, was driving a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic eastbound on Street Road at a high rate of speed.

Police said Khabelov failed to stop for a red light at the northbound I-95 ramp intersection.

The Chevrolet struck a 2017 Dodge Journey that was exiting the highway and turning left onto westbound Street Road on a green signal. The impact sent the Chevrolet airborne, causing it to cross the center median and strike a 2015 Honda Accord stopped in the westbound lanes, police said.

The Chevrolet caught fire after coming to a rest in the roadway, police said.

Khabelov was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze and assisted in rescuing two passengers from the burning Chevrolet.

The passengers, who were identified as Farruh Homidov, 43, and Askar Narziev, 39, were transported by Bensalem EMS to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia. Both remain in critical condition.

The drivers of the Dodge Journey and the Honda Accord were taken to local hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening, police said.

Police said the entire crash was captured on intersection cameras.

While the crash remains under investigation, officials noted that the involvement of drugs or alcohol has not been ruled out pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology reports.
