Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt is good to go and will play against the Green Bay Packers after a full practice on Friday. Watt popped up on Thursday with a hip injury and was limited to start the week.
It is unknown when Watt suffered the injury, but it was likely during the team’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. Head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned on Tuesday that a few players had suffered minor injuries and would be limited with their injuries but were not expected to miss time.
Watt was likely included in that discussion. He had one sack in the game, but like most of the pass rushers, were held quiet with quarterback Joe Flacco getting rid of the ball in 2.27 seconds on average.
Meanwhile, Watt will be critical to the Steelers’ game plan against the Green Bay Packers, as they will hope to have their front beat up on a Packers offensive line that has shown some moments of weakness throughout the season.
Watt, along with Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig, creates one of the best edge rusher trios in the entire NFL, and the attention Watt brings is the engine the defense runs on, especially with their blitz heavy approach over the first six games of the season.
