Abington Heights finished seventh in Class 3A girls in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Team Golf Championships Oct. 22 at Penn State.
The Comets made the eight-team state field with their District 2 championship.
At Penn State, their three-player team score of 49-over-par, 265 finished in front of Cumberland Valley’s 283.
Brianna Moffatt’s 87 led the way for Abington Heights. Kate Peters, who had a birdie on each side, and Liz George each added 89s to complete the team score.
Margot Grad shot 97 and Grace Bennett had a 106.
Conestoga won at 12-over, 228, four strokes in front of Peters Township.
Mount St. Joseph, Fox Chapel and Hollidaysburg tied for third with 253s.
Erie McDowell was sixth, two strokes better than Abington Heights with 263.
Individual
Moffatt also won a District 2 individual title while placing second overall at the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional, earning her a shot in the PIAA Individual Championships Oct. 20-21.
Moffatt finished tied for 30th in the 36-player state field, matching subregional champion Kylie Schall from Jersey Shore by shooting 87-83—170. She finished strong with a birdie on 10 to begin a 41 on the back nine of the second day.
Mya Morgan from Elizabeth Forward was the only player to break par using a 69-72—141 to win the title by four shots.
