Today a reporter from Erie News Now was set to speak with Alison Duiker, Lonene Rogers daughter about the upcoming “Stand for the Silent” peaceful protest set to take place on Monday, March 30. Upon arrival Alison was conversing on the phone with the District Attorney of the case. The DA relayed that due to insufficient evidence the hearing for Clinton Rogers will be rescheduled at a later date.
The defense had filed a habeas corpus petition, or a request arguing that without a body, a confession on its own is not enough to justify a murder conviction. Prosecutors will be presenting additional evidence at a future proceeding.
Alison Duiker, Lonene Rogers daughter has assured the public that the “Stand for the Silent” gathering will still take place as scheduled to raise awareness for domestic violence victims and the resources available to those in similar cases to Lonene.
The gathering will still be held at the Crawford County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and all are welcome to join in solidarity.
