Jessup to hold 150th anniversary dinner
Jessup Borough will kick off its sesquicentennial celebration with a 150th anniversary dinner Sunday, April 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Fiorelli’s Family Catering, 1501 Main St., Peckville.
The menu will feature traditional ethnic foods representing the borough’s cultural heritage. Hors d’oeuvres will include assorted kielbasa, butter and onion pierogies, corned beef and halushki.
Buffet stations will be set up where guests can partake in salad with ethnic dressings, loaded potato soup and pasta with Fiorelli’s signature red sauce. There will also be chicken, carved roast beef and tilapia, as well as roasted Potatoes O’Brien and green beans formaggio. Desserts include creme de menthe parfait, paska, crescia and Irish soda breads.
Music through the decades will be provided by Talk of the Town Productions. There will also be a basket raffle, 50/50 and cash bar.
Tickets cost $50 and must be purchased by April 6. Tickets are available at the Jessup Borough office, through any Jessup-Winton 150 committee member or by messaging the Jessup-Winton 150 Facebook page.
Johnson College to host spring open house
Johnson College will hold its spring open house on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on its Scranton campus.
The open house will include discussions about the admissions process, information about financial aid for those who qualify, and student services such as student life, student support and career services.
Same-day acceptance will also be available for many programs if students bring their high school or college transcripts. Tours of each technical area will be conducted, and program directors and instructors will be available to review the specifics of their programs.

Wright Center to hold diabetes prevention program
The Wright Center for Community Health is hosting a lifestyle modification program starting this spring to help people prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes.
The Wright Center is offering the National Diabetes Prevention Program at its community health centers in Jermyn and Scranton. The 26-session, evidence-based program helps individuals with prediabetes lower their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Participants can attend classes in person or virtually.
Classes will begin Tuesday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Wright Center for Community Health Mid Valley, 5 S. Washington Ave., Jermyn. The Wright Center for Community Health in Scranton, 501 S. Washington Ave., will host a class beginning Wednesday, April 29, at 3 p.m.
